The way bail works, as I understand it, is you typically only pay around 10 percent of the amount to a bail bond place, and for that fee they will cover the bail as a loan. So I imagine that the actual cash cost is closer to 25k. It's still pretty high, but easily covered by these SJW funds, many times over.
So like, the bail is a collateral, the only time that a bail would "cost" the full amount is if the defendant were to not show up for court/skip bail, at which point the full amount is kept by the court, and then the bail bonds people would go looking for the person to get their bail back.
