The horizontal (boxer) engine design lends to smoother operation (doesn’t vibrate or shake as bad as others) and has slightly better performance than other like sized engineS of a different config (in-line/“V”).

Maybe some of them. I still don’t get why you want your pistons facing your fenders. I hear they are difficult to service for that reason.
