The point is different desktops and browsers will give different priority levels in the UX behavior path. The solution for 'everyone' is to recommend the default path first. The secondary path exists but it can be 'clunky'.

Or just Right-Click the video and select: "Copy video URL at current time". Then just paste it anywhere you want.
That works too although you have to fish around a bit depending on your OS and browser for the sweet spot.

PS : This is my fave OS at the moment. Good God it's clean. It's slated to be my mainstay for my upcoming Atari VCS config.
