minimum wage right now is 12 bucks an hour for less than 25 employees, 13 bucks for 25+ employees. some years back the state government decided to raise the minimum wage to 15 bucks an hour across the board by 2023 or some shit I think, and naturally skilled jobs that play close to that are not increasing their wages to compensate for increased minimum wage so a lot of people are giving up their extremely difficult jobs that pay close to minimum wage so they can instead work a couple easy fast food jobs and make more money than your average inexperienced people in skilled labor like the trades, medical, emergency services, and so forth.
