Many economists get into the field as being pro-labour populists.
Then they notice everyone in the field is pretty left and most economists don't actually work in the real world.
Then the most practical economics field is behavioral economics which is basically the hard science of manipulating the masses.
So, kinda like Fauci sitting in his ivory tower telling doctors in the field what not to prescribe for their patients. Got it!
I personally know a few. They were directly trained by socialists or communists. It boggles the mind, but as they say, those who can't, teach.
