I seriously always have liked this guy. Seemed to have a good personality. I would like to think we would make a much better spokesman for various brands than shitbags like Failed Colin Kapernick
His biggest controversy was that he slowed down at the end of the 100m dash final at the Beijing Olympics. He had such a huge lead that he started celebrating at the 80 meter mark. Despite slowing down, he still managed to get gold and break his own world record. https://youtu.be/o-urnlaJpOA
Between watching him and Phelps get 8 gold medals in swimming, the 2008 summer olympics will always be my favorite.
Phelps and Bolt made the Olympics something really special in those years. Now we will probably see less raw athletic ability and more virtue signaling and politicization.
Unlike Michael Phelps who has a truly bizarre physique that is all conducive to swimming (super tall and skinny, freakishly long arms, enormous hands and feet), Usain Bolt is just an otherwise 'normal' guy.
Even his own teammates were caught using PEDs. Either he knew they were cheating and didn't say anything (which is almost as bad) or he was cheating himself and somehow didn't get caught.
You are comparing apples to oranges. What would the equivalent of a Michael Phelps, “truly bizarre physique” be for the 100m dash? Humans aren’t built for swimming the four swim strokes quickly. However, we are built for running. The only physics attributes that would benefit a sprinter are longer legs, explosive power, and good reflexes. Usain Bolt has all of those things. Also, none of those things are significantly effected by juicing.
Further, testing for doping at the Olympics has been much more strict than things like the Tour De France. As Armstrong said, everybody was doing it. That is not the case in the Olympics. In fact, I am pretty sure that every time you set a record you have to get tested. It may be that every athlete has to get tested just for qualifying now.
Lastly, training and equipment has gotten much more sophisticated as technology has improved. In swimming, they had to ban body suits because the materials were getting so advanced that races were coming down to who had the more synthetic suit. When those suits were banned in 2009, there was a slight lull in the how frequent National and world records were getting broken. But now swimmers are back to breaking records at a very frequent rate. The reason is that there has been a major shift in how swimmers train. I’m a competitive swim coach and I can go into more details if you want but it’s pretty boring lol.

Longer legs does not help you in sprints, it helps you on distance. Bolt has always had mediocre starts because of this.

Maybe now. But not when Bolt was running.
The World Anti-Doping Agency originally left it up to individual national anti-doping agencies to take care of themselves. Jamaica, however, basically did nothing. The year WADA announced they were taking over for Jamaica was the year Usain Bolt said he'd never run again.
There are also other things about Bolt that raise red flags. Rumor has it that the reason Bolt never competed in the Diamond League except the year he retired is because their anti-doping rules are different and harder to evade. Since Bolt had to quit before the new WADA rules inevitably got him, he was totally clean by that point, and finished off before he quit doping altogether. What's strange is that the Diamond League is like the Triple Crown of track and field meets, and he never, ever competed in his entire running career until 2012 when he quit running altogether.
Also, you have to be incredibly stupid to get caught. You dope when you TRAIN. Not when you COMPETE. Every single athlete has a team of doctors whose entire job it is is to pump them with as much drugs as they can get away with. They know exactly how long they need to stay clean for in order to piss clean. You don't lose the gains you got when you doped for training, which is where the advantage is.
That's our situation. When everyone cheats, the honest guy loses. We're the drug-free nice guy athlete who follows the rules, comes in last place and retires early from minor injuries. This is how the Left gained so much power despite being idiots.
They haven't had the benefit of everyone telling them how bad they have it for their entire childhood. Instead they (likely) actually had a bad childhood and can appreciate this place.
There is actually a demographic of black people more successful than white Americans. I can't remember off the top of my head. This isn't a "good" thing or a "bad" thing. It's not good or bad someone is more successful than whites. It's just a statement of fact.
The reason most black Americans are not is clearly because of the culture.
Far fewer Caribbean and other-than-Somali African blacks are total shitbags compared to inner city American blacks. Probably has something to do with not being raised in the post-LBJ failed culture that consumes most urban US black communities.
Generational welfare and subsidy of single motherhood makes a culture more prone to shitbaggery and aggression than people who have escaped literal third-world conditions. Think about the significance of that for a moment.
The best thing I ever heard said about Usain as an athlete was that Michael Phelps redefined was was possible for an Olympian in 2008, Usain Bolt redefined was possible for a human being.

Unlike Kapernick, Bolt is a legend and will go down in sports history.
Agreed. Funny isn't it -- it is easier to have respect for others if you're a winner. The legends and the GOATs almost universally share that trait.
Yep. Just the fastest man in recorded human history, that's all.
If he wanted to, he probably could have run the fastest 400 and fastest 800 in the world too.
I heard it’s his legs alone that power the trump train

The guy who slows down and breaks world records
Personally?
I think he's juiced.

It's weird to look at previous records - in the 21st century suddenly we have humans that can vastly surpass previous records, and they do it every single year... except, if you look at all the previous world records - including those that were disqualified for being juiced - everyone that was ever on the same level as Usain Bolt... was juiced. He is this island that stands alone in the middle of a bunch of records that were all thrown out for cheating, which smart money means he's cheating too.
Even his own teammates were caught using PEDs. Either he knew they were cheating and didn't say anything (which is almost as bad) or he was cheating himself and somehow didn't get caught.

Literally the only smart way to take that headline is that Usain Bolt just hasn't been caught cheating yet.
Out of the fastest world record times, Usain Bolt is somehow 0.2 seconds faster than his closest peer who also has never been caught doping.
Dude's juiced.
Strongly disagree. Not his job to tattle tell on people.
But yeah he's probably on the juice.
Yeah, if you don't give the slightest shit about the integrity and honesty of competitive sport.
This isn't like he's not reporting his neighbor for declaring a dependent he doesn't have on his taxes.

I've run into many non-American black people living in the U.S. You'd be surprised how much some of them love this country.
