I have a clerical job at a university and contact tracing will begin this week. Is my gut-felt rejection to this an over reaction? Also, can I stay off-the-radar by leaving my phone at home? Thanks.

If what they are implementing is the smartphone based contact tracing then the "backbone" for contract tracing is already on your phone but (supposedly) is only active if you install an app that "turns it on". The app will use your Bluetooth to communicate with other nearby phones that are also running the app.

Have they told you that you must install an app? If so then I offer my condolences on the boating accident you are about to have with your phone!

Ah ha. I was wondering how it was going to be activated. No, not yet. But I'm sure that's just around the corner. Thanks for the heads up. In the meantime, I think I'm going to cross off one of the items that I just now put on my bucket list and go kayaking on the Colorado River.
