You will do great things, believe me. A lot of people are know it, smart people know it, stupid people don't know it, but will learn it, I know it,

That's rad...fully operational I assume?

19
JustTheNews [S] 19 points ago +19 / -0

Its just a 3d model lol but theoretically, sure.

17
NavyGuy 17 points ago +17 / -0

Time to invest in a lathe, a 3d printer, and a good tap/die set.

6
trailerman168233 6 points ago +6 / -0

And a milling machine.

5
NavyGuy 5 points ago +5 / -0

That and 20 other major tools, but, yeah...

4
PinochetIsMyHero 4 points ago +4 / -0

And a diesel-powered vibrator.

5

its the same picture, it is still the first attempt

1
sunwolf87 1 point ago +1 / -0

I love 3D modeling myself. I trained in production lighting in college too, and took online courses on 3D lighting and materials. An eclectic mid for sure, but I want to make video games...realistic-looking ones...MY WAY.

13
ProphetOfKek 13 points ago +13 / -0

Also need retrorockets on your suit to stabilize you from the recoil.

13
Scroon 13 points ago +13 / -0

Just have it shoot out both ends. Commies are everywhere.

This is the best solution!!!

9
NomadicKrow 9 points ago +10 / -1

Let's get crazy. We're going totally sci-fi. Let's have a personal rail weapon that drives projectiles with electromagnetic force. No recoil so you're not burning fuel on your pack to keep you stable while firing.

12
Keiichi81 12 points ago +13 / -1

Railguns still have recoil.

Not 100% an expert on rail guns, but when the shot is fired, isn't most of the energy going into pushing the two rails apart rather than pushing the rails (the gun) backwards? I figure there would still be some recoil, but way less than a normal gun due to that.

I believe they were just being applied to our powered armor as I was leaving the mobile infantry.

5

Can confirm.

5
deleted 5 points ago +5 / -0
6
DrVSGGEOTUSPhD 6 points ago +7 / -1

HOL UP wouldn't a railgun have recoil? Or does the electro ... stuff make it so there wouldn't be any?

9
AmericanPatriot6f0 9 points ago +9 / -0

Anything that has a bullet/projectile has recoil. The larger/faster the bullet, the more recoil.

3
BakeRatDotWin 3 points ago +4 / -1

recoil is just one of newton's laws of motion in action

you'd need a magic railgun if you want to violate physics

you need gyrojet rounds. They propel themselves, like a recoilless rifle

How about Guass rifles, manufactured by Elon Musk?

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coilgun

4
InarosPrime 4 points ago +4 / -0

Or just get gyrojet guns. They were made in the 60s in the space craze and seem like they would be perfect for space if developed today.

3
ProphetOfKek 3 points ago +3 / -0

Holy smokes, those are bolt guns!!! The Emperor be praised!!!

4
deleted 4 points ago +4 / -0
4
ProphetOfKek 4 points ago +4 / -0

Nice!

3
Tenpat 3 points ago +3 / -0

You can use the gasses from the gun to do that. Vent some of it backwards so it slightly pushes you forward.

1
InarosPrime 1 point ago +1 / -0

Recoil is also something to consider if this is meant to be a space-based weapon. In zero-G, you don't want to be forced backwards with increasing velocity after every shot. The closest thing ever made to a recoilless small arm was Gyrojet guns. The rounds are basically small rockets, keeping the recoil to a minimum.

I’d also question the usefulness of a bipod in zero grav. Unless OP is just thinking ahead and planning on fighting the Covenant on other planets, of course.

0
Aambrick 0 points ago +0 / -0

Well space even on Mars is much lower gravity than here on earth so guns like the Gatling gun can be wielded and have a 20k ammo backpack in space. The problem is the recoil. Mag boots for metal surfaces, and jetpacks for space.

For swords and bayonets far larger versions can be used so a sword here on earth could literally be a semi-weightless bayonet in space.
