Kids were born in the dust bowl, in the Holodomor, behind the Iron Curtain. We fight the battles we must during our time on Earth to make sure that the next generation is better. The next generation will have to face struggles and trials we can't imagine to do the same for their children.
Only in an age of consumerist largesse and constant distraction have birth rates fallen, have people stated "I don't make enough to have kids" when history has shown different. Children are a blessing. People who consider them a lifestyle choice, personal accouterments or, worse, a detriment, I find extremely disturbing. People who say they will never have kids, same thing. Right up there with people who abuse animals for fun.
