I'll be honest. The USPS is an essential service and it's a damn shame that it's not getting a ton more funding than it is. Everything I buy online is running into big delays, and honestly, the postal service used to be very fast. Mail-in ballots are a bad thing, yes, but the postal service is not the enemy.

I have a differing opinion: The postal service is dead and antiquated. I can barely sort my bills out, because every day my mailbox is stuffed with JUNK. Everything from refinancing scams to clipper coupons, every day. It is utterly useless, and I just handle everything electronically.

Postal system is still fast. It's just useless, error prone, and burdened with garbage.

It being run by the government is part of the problem. You can't fix any of the problems and make it a better service because they don't want to change and be better. They'll keep getting funding no matter how shitty they are.

Essential, my ass. They can shut down every post office tomorrow and I wouldn't give a fuck. Everything can be emailed and printed. Plenty of other, much more reliable options exist to ship things. The gov't doesn't need to be involved in any deliverance of mail.
