1] I disagree, I think there's a very large number of stories to tell, and ways to tell them, which are more or less consistent with our foundational ethos. And I think one problem with modern movies is just what you outlined... the studio system got into this retard groupthink about the Hero's Journey archetype, they have it worked out to the n-th degree, they insist that scripts follow this stupid thing. That's part of it right there.
Maybe the marketing departments are involved earlier in the movie making process? Something is making movies STINK...maybe because there's so much money involved, they absolutely MUST have certain features which they know will sell so many seats.

The first movie from the 70s was good, I guess the next 2were pretty good, everything else sucks, mandalorian included.

I think my boy Christopher Nolan can make good movies.
Also Disney has done some good things with star wars
1.) Rouge One was mostly entertaining

The prequels were pretty good too. Most of the content Disney put out however is a disgrace to Star Wars and should never have seen the light of day.
