Honestly I think all of that stuff (old "Nerd stuff") is more liked by the right than the left. It feels like its that way as far back as you go.
Today the left is constantly shitting on any traditional "nerd" IP, wanting to change it to fit in their ideology. Even in the past, when Christian groups were angry Captain Kirk kissed a black girl, it wasn't the Christian republicans of the north, it was the racists in the deep south, the Dixiecrats.
They hated it then, and they hate it now. Unfortunately now they have basically absorbed all of Hollywood so they now are able to change all of these great IP's into total leftist bullshit.
But the fact remains they still don't like Star Wars, or Marvel, or Star Trek, they hate it all. That's why they want to change everything.
That's really something, isn't it? You would think "socially awkward, twiggy pasty kid" would embody the left, but they keep showing over and over again that they were never fans of the things they want to corrupt.
Star trek, star wars, ghostbusters, doctor who, dungeons and dragons, comic books, video games... they're completely out of touch with all of it and the changes they want to make to all of it are completely unwanted by literally every true fan of those things.
