My husband and I were at the grocery store yesterday and were the only unmasked people there. The amount of stares by others was so creepy. I'm talking staring straight into my eyes and holding it while I walk past them. What is the world is wrong with people? We are so sick of this!

Also proud to say I got kicked out of Pier 1 yesterday too for not putting on a mask.

The mask makes them feel anonymous and they start doing things they normally wouldn't

This.

If you’ve ever done any safety training, you would know that they teach you never to turn your back on a deranged person because if they only see the back of your head, you look less human, and they are more likely to attack you. You are supposed to show your face, which reminds them that you are human and that it’s wrong to attack you. These mask laws make people appear less human and make crazies more likely to attack you (remember the story in Michigan where a crazy guy stabbed a masked old man who was insisting he wear a mask? I bet not being able to see the old man’s face made him easier to stab.

There is also science showing that when people aren’t showing their face, they feel anonymous and emboldened. So not only are the masks putting people in danger by making it more likely that a random schizophrenic homeless person will attack you, they also embolden the mask wearers with a cloak of anonymity.

This is a good time to train yourself to look at people's hands and not their faces. We are naturally drawn to looking at faces, but the threat comes from the hands. Self-defense classes stress that to be situationally aware we should first be cognizant of the hands of people approaching us. Hard to force yourself to do, but now is a good time to practice this.

Bless you, y'all.

I mainly shop local stores, small businesses owned by my neighbors out here inna woods. In their stores I wear my gaiter as requested of me, because they are struggling to survive and I don't want to cause them problems. We have a small business and we also must ask people to mask... but we are quick to understand if you cannot wear one for medical reasons. We'll even offer you a free gaiter with our logo on it, we saw this coming and bulk bought a bunch then logoed them.

Other places I don't pull my gaiter up, like walmart or other corporate entities, I don't wear it anywhere except small local businesses. And I do that only to help them survive, as we are struggling to survive too.

I will wear my gaiter ONLY to support small businesses who cannot afford to be shut down or be burned down or have idiots make trouble in their stores.

Your Spirit, you and your Husband's, is what will save my America, thank you. Millions and millions of us have to share that Spirit, daily, not be cowed down. I've only been asked to leave businesses a couple times, tho I've been hollered at by patrons wanting to Karen me a good bit. I laugh at them, if they persist I point out the mask doesn't help just as your britches do not stop those farts from the other end.

Thank you, YOU are part of the Solution.

This, while you open your mouth slightly and give them the ol' tongue waggle.

Works every time.

Lol. I was going more for intimidation than the promise of a good time. That could work too though

I’m proud of you and for you! Americans with backbones. That’s what we need more of

I haven't worn a mask once. Walmart, Home Depot and Winn Dixie corporate offices have stated they will not refuse service to anyone not wearing a mask. They are well aware they would be sued. This entire thing is overblown. You cannot force people to wear masks.

They do here. And the people go along with it. Shameful. Pathetic.

They're trying to shame you silently. If they don't verbally engage they expect you will not either, but they want you to feel shame. It's herd behavior.

Nothing drives the starers crazier than a smile.

Maybe throw in a little wink as well.

I noticed the same thing, but now I just don’t look at people and mind my own business. I’m usually the only person anywhere without a mask, and it sucked at first but now I just don’t even notice. After leaving the store, I couldn’t even tell you if anyone gave me a dirty look or not, because I wasn’t paying attention.

ModernKnight 3 points ago +4 / -1

You really should be paying attention to the people around you. There's plenty of mask nuts out there who will attack you for not wearing a mask. Ignore their dirty looks, but be vigilant.

I haven't worn a mask ever and don't plan on starting any time soon.

Something similar happened to me. I was at self checkout and there were maybe 30 people around me all wearing masks. You could hear a pin drop from the silence. Nobody was talking at all. They were just looking at me.

Oh yeah I am always watching people and always ready, I just don’t give them the satisfaction of direct eye contact.

Glad to see people out there like you.

Stay in shape and keep up the good fight!

Sucks for pier 1. Guess they won't make that final sale before they go out of business.

I get it to but frankly it just emboldens me. I'm humming a merry tune, saying good days as they pass and taking deep, satisfying and uninhibited breaths. I hope someday they can look back on how they stared bug eyed at me and feel the full weight of their stupidity.

This is what’s been driving me up a wall, too. I make a point to do what I would normally do, which is smile at them & go about my business. It makes me feel like people are watching me shop & I should be carful not to touch anything or breath through my mouth without a mask. This is wholly irrational & ridiculous, but it’s my initial feeling to being stared at by people in masks. I have to mentally remind myself to shop like I normally would & quit feeling like you’re doing something wrong, due to the states. It is really creepy, though.

They didn't forget, they want you to know they hate you.

I always get mean mugged, if not verbally harassed in public.
