When the Leftist frontrunner, Joe Biden, said that African Americans who don't vote for him "ain't black," his base either insisted he was joking, or just plain ignored it ever happened.
When Trump flubbed, and called the nation "Thighland," his base joked about it for days, before quietly letting the matter drop, because it really was just a flub.
