I think it was a direct result of the woke shit, yeah. And yep, this is how you get competing studios. Look at the folks that made "The Outer Worlds", which is absolutely gorgeous and I VERY highly recommend if you liked the "good" Fallout series. These are the guys that made New Vegas, but then were screwed out of the contract for Fallout 4. Which is why 4 was dog shit. But "The Outer Worlds" is amazing.
I started "Outer Worlds." I was a little amused at the faux capitalism mockery, then after a while I thought: "These guys are serious!"
Then I met an NPC lesbian who was bemoaning that she was the last of her line (she learned her trade from her father, but refused to have kids) and she started hitting on one of my female followers.
I sent the game back to Gamefly after that.
Sorry... wasn't too impressed with it either.
(I do agree Fallout 4 was a disappointment. But at least it didn't deliberately piss me off by including rainbow Jihad stuff. It just seemed like "You can join any one of four factions! And not one of them seems worth joining.")
Not gonna lie, that shit annoyed the piss out of me, too. But the difference is, with The Outer Worlds, you have the OPTION of ignoring it, and avoiding it. I don't mind if it's just casually included in games so lesbians/gays can play a character they can more relate to. Doesn't bother me. There was even one other game that kind of went down that road where you could ONLY have homosexual relationships with x% of the NPCs that were already "gay", and that percentage represented the same number as were in the general populace. Forget the game, but I thought that was an interesting take. Most games just get around it by going, "Okay, sure, whatever, your character can bang anyone they want." Thought that was an interesting way to permit it.
I just simply left the lesbo in the ship. She wasn't part of my party because I didn't want the constant reminder of, "Oh hey, remember how I'm a lesbian?" in my ear while I'm trying to enjoy a video game.
Still wouldn't recommend it for children, regardless.
But "The Last Of Us" is overt, and there's no getting away from it. Your MAIN CHARACTER is a fucking tranny.
Glad I wasn't the only one that bothered. Maybe it gets better, but I got a little tired of traveling out there and doing the same bit of search quests.
I loved New Vegas (Hail Caesar!). But I got annoyed at the gay followers they put in there as well. Dragon Age Inquisition did the same thing.... even a trans character (I think. You can never be sure) and I could not finish it.
Actually, Dragon Age Inquisition pissed me off in the character generation phase, where being a human fighter or rogue got a lecture about how you were "privileged" in the opening text. I hate that word so damn much now.
Which is a pity. I loved Dragon Age Origins.
How does it make sense to have a tranny in the world of last of us anyway? I'm pretty sure it's gonna be damn hard to find estrogen or testosterone injections after the civilization collapse.
Technically there's TWO trannies in Last of Us. "Lev" is an overt tranny (kicked out of her/his group for being one.) Abby they tried to do "subtly" by SAYING it's a female, but making it look like a dude.
