I was a crossdresser for a long time. My philosophy was: "Okay, I can dress and enjoy it. That's no reason to turn my world upside down by transitioning."
I had two different therapists who encouraged me to transition. One I only saw once (I declined a second after the "test" session.). The second was more effective and sent me in a tailspin as I was seriously considering it for a month before I regained equilibrium.
If doctors behaved liked psychologists, they'd inject you with a disease that they would cure for you a month later.
Yeah, one of the arguments the LGBT lobby uses to ending "conversion therapy" (really, any therapy at all where you try to get rid of unwanted same sex attractions or confidence to remain a man (or woman) when you have some transgender urges) is that there's not a 100% recovery rate.
I don't even think therapy for regular disorders, like alcoholism, has a 100% recovery rate. Even antibiotics aren't that reliable....
Yeah, but by then you probably already paid six figures to surgeons, clothes stores, voice coaches, make up artists, pharmacists, endocrinologists, electrolysists....
Mission accomplished. Another insecure person fleeced, left to the mercies of the credit card collection agencies and a surgery that didn't fix their problems.
A lot of psychologists encourage this stuff.

Can't say I disagree. I have a theory that only about 25% of psychologists are ACTUALLY there to help patients. But that's a different conversation.

And yet, there's the exact same, or WORSE "recovery" for post-op. Hrm...

The idea that we should do anything that brings us pleasure is where humans have always gone wrong, all the way back to ancient times.
Next thing you know you'll tell me I shouldn't eat a whole cake every night. It brings me pleasure..
