How does "it's not to keep you from getting infected, it's to keep you from infecting people" even work? Either it's a filter or it isn't.

Umm if I have the virus and I’m in the incubation period, it’s suspected that’s when viral load is highest, meaning infection is then highest.

You can transmit the virus by talking, coughing to sneezing. Pretty simple to understand you put up a barrier and less of the virus transmits.

There is NO evidence that before you develop symptoms you have your highest viral load. That doesn't begin to correspond to any data.
