It's rare that stars are actually beautiful. Most are plain average at best. Ingrid Bergman, Grace Kelly, Doris Day, Natalie Wood (adult) etc.. Undeniably some of the best actresses ever and flat out gorgeous. (don't throw Monroe at me, she was hot, but not that hot naturally)
i'd argue marilyn monroe wasn't wasn't even hot. she was just a whore at just the right time to be a pioneer of the public whoring industry.
She wasn't anything that special, but she certainly wasn't unattractive though her contemporaries for the most part were much prettier. I think the media's just been trying to tell us who's pretty and who's not for the last 80 years and it's been confusing men, but especially women who should be listening to guys, not their TV, magazines or girlfriends on what they're attracted to and want.
