It's not just "weird" anymore. We're years and years and years past just "hmm... weird!" It's motherfucking ILLEGAL how they treat us and they need to be CONVICTED WITH MAXIMUM SENTENCES.

When are we gonna fucking remove that provision (203?) that keeps these losers being able to get away with this shit. Annoying.

33
IllIllIll 33 points ago +34 / -1

We don't even need to remove it:

Just enforce it as-is!!!

They only have 203 protection if they're operating as a platform...

... The level of editorial decisions made by the social media giants at this point are so plainly the acts of publishers, their Section 230 protections should long since have been lost, and they should all be getting constantly sued & indicted for all the libelous and legit illegal shit they're doing!!!

There was even an EO put out to this affect, but still no action ☹️

No shit! How is this not topic #1!

When Republicans stop getting money from them. Big Tech bought out the kleptocrats in both parties.

PinochetIsMyHero -2 points ago +2 / -4

I'm wondering what statute or constitutional provision you think they're violating.

I think they're assholes, but I am not aware of any law that prohibits them from fucking over anyone to the right of Lenin.

If I studied the statutes, I could probably find something to go after them under FEC laws, for suppressing one side's candidates and/or individual candidates, and there may be some commercial torts related to sabotaging the BB and Breitbart and the like, but as far as general "free speech" stuff, they're a private business and there have been no lawsuits that created protections against them (e.g., like in New Jersey where malls are forced to allow "public speech" under judicially created state-level caselaw).

Relevant: https://www.whitehouse.gov/presidential-actions/executive-order-preventing-online-censorship/

It is the policy of the United States to ensure that, to the maximum extent permissible under the law, this provision is not distorted to provide liability protection for online platforms that — far from acting in “good faith” to remove objectionable content — instead engage in deceptive or pretextual actions (often contrary to their stated terms of service) to stifle viewpoints with which they disagree.

The left would would just make it illegal and find some justification after the fact.

Not only that, the CEO would be forced to publicly apologize, then he would be fired, then socially ostracized, and his kids would only get into Brown not Yale. The board of directors would cleaned and Stacey Abrams would be added. The company would hire a new consultant firm to teach them to be diverse and inclusive. They would then start a new ad campaign explaining how awful they are. The United Nations would make speeches about it. Universities would teach it as another example of the right wing fascists undermining democracy. The media would have endless townhall discussions. Protests would erupt all over Finland. And so on...

Meanwhile, when it happens to us, lol we can't do anything under the current law.

This is why we lose. All we do is create power vacuums that the left happily fills and then slaughters us.

That is because lefties have groups mass flagging and reporting posts by conservatives. So when one person has thousands of reports it automatically blocks them.

Also the mods they hire to block shit are antifa kids.

There's an additional component to it.

A bunch of accounts posting conservative content and all mass flagging a post by a conservative? The accounts are obviously bots, ban the flagging accounts.

A bunch of accounts posting liberal content and all mass flagging a post by a conservative? The accounts are obviously ok, ban the flagged accounts.

Weird how it works that way in every situation possible. Why doesn’t twatter fact check any Democrat? Anytime they call Trump a Russian plant, that should be labeled propaganda with a fact check. Rules for thee but not for reeee.

They sure make a lot of “mistakes”.

6
naraset 6 points ago +8 / -2

All people have to do is mass report/flag and it is a guaranteed 'mistake.' Algorithms work by mob rule. That's why we have to report and flag things to get the algorithms on our side.

8
geocitiesuser 8 points ago +8 / -0

You fell for their narrative of blaming an algorithm. Who, pray tell, do you think actually wrote that algorithm, or currently develops that algorithm? Big tech is a swamp, it's not just the leadership.

2
malthrax 2 points ago +2 / -0

The "algorithm" is Habeeb in Mumbai

1
naraset 1 point ago +1 / -0

While they do moderate things manually including their trending items, most bans and censorship are done automatically by flags reported by users. They don't even have 1 employee for every 1 million tweets a day. The left mass flags anything they don't like and the algorithm learns what terms people are flagging and starts banning similar terms. We have to fight back by flagging those things otherwise they win. It's not a guaranteed winning strategy but it makes a difference. Even if the algorithm doesn't ban it, they will review manually next by the items with the most flags.

Cues: Men At work: It's A Mistake

7
AppalachianTactical 7 points ago +7 / -0

I want to see a music video compilation of all media "mistakes" to that track.

My dad is a big Men at Work fan and my brother and I both love them from growing up with it.

3
CelesteD 3 points ago +3 / -0

As do I friend, I grew up with them too. I distinctly remember singing this particular song after we would get out of grade school and go swimming in the canals behind the school. Not even all that dangerous back then, worst thing was broken glass and rough rock, to which we would just wear boat shoes/dockers type stuff.

Of course it was safer in a group watching out for each other too. We even did something we called "skurfing" which is tying any old piece of plywood/particle board up with a rope to the drainage gate and surfing the wash back and forth.

Used to be able to catch toads, catfish and crawdads in city canals either bare handed or with a bucket.

Now, I wouldn't even be able to guess what is in city water. It probably wasn't the smartest thing to do as kids but it beat doing drugs or gang banging. And it was physical exercise, at least.

AppalachianTactical 5 points ago +5 / -0

Man I have gone back to the creeks i grew up playing in in the last few years. There used to be big crawdads under every rock. Now I can look through 30 yards of creek and not see one.
