As the article kindly reminds the readers, Harris was actually the least popular candidate with blacks and other non-whites during the primaries, her measly 1% being worse than even Amy Klobuchar (who had to bow out of the running for the VP slot specifically because she wasn't black herself). She was a terrible choice even, or especially, if the intent was to pander to them.
Klobuchar had a chance of winning Minnesota for Biden and very possibly other Midwest battleground states. Harris brings no states as he will win California anyway.
