Sure. There is a chapter in James Michner's "Carribbean," about Haiti and Dominican Republic. It has been a while, but I'll try. There is detailed the rich history of Haiti, including the famous slave revolt. In the course of telling the story, the white colonists were especially concern.ed about a mullatto preacher who was encouraging insurrection. The book discussed how the colonists were concerned about the mulatto in that mulattos often had influence over both black and white. They were thought to be particularly dangerous. That was called the Curse of Tortuga, mulattos turning on colonists, waging bloody insurrections.
