in 2017, the USPS applied for a provisional patent on a secure voting system using blockchain and voter ID.

Edit -> [For clarification, this isn't necessarily a physical ID]

In Feb 2019, they applied for another.

It was just revealed.

In effect, the system would give everyone a national voter ID. that would be matched to state level voting registrations.

Ballots would be created and the voter ID would be used to claim a ballot.

The registered voter would use their voter ID and the ballot to cast an anonymous, auditable, encrypted vote.

And they would do it by mail, but the USPS secure vote by mail system patent relied on voter ID.

With this revelation, the USPS might just be the vehicle to implement a national voter ID system, which makes total sense.

As well - the leverage this gives Trump against vote by mail is "we have a system that's been in development for 3 years, so if we're going to do vote by mail here's how the USPS would do it, we create a national voter ID database and match those to ballots, anonymously. No exposure to virus and it secures vote by mail."

It calls the Dem's bluff on vote by mail and if they backpeddle hard because it would be a vehicle to institute national voter ID, they'll look like idiots.

I love the idea, but to roll it out right before an election would be asking for a nightmare.
