Maybe. Maybe not. Unfortunately people upvote it, so karma whorers will take advantage. That's why most of the titles here go the hyperbolic route like "HOLY SHIT XXXX" or "BREAKING NEWS PEDES!!". Get them sweet upvotes. Also 75% of the front page are reposted memes. I know I know we need that too. I just wish there was a place for factual information. Because you can't get that anywhere else, everything is extreme bias and you're never sure if you're getting the real story or not..
I always look for the source in the comments. Most of the times it's there, but way down with 2 or 3 upvotes. I guess most people just don't care.
