Only if you allow it and choose to put up with it. Me? I would walk right out the door.

"In addition to downloading the app, students must undergo a mandatory three-day quarantine after they move back to campus. They will be given a list of "approved businesses" to frequent, and must fill out an online form five days in advance if they plan to leave for "approved" activities, such as medical appointments, religious obligations, and "significant family obligations."

What's to stop students form getting a cheap phone on ebay and just leaving the thing in their room with the app on that?

Why a three day quarantine, what happened to two weeks What happens if they get a phone call that a relative was in a bad accident and only has a day at best to live. Sorry can't say bye to Gamdma, might catch CCPVirus.

The app probably registers all the phone inofrmation and will be cross-referenced with other personally identifiable data, like tests, camera appearances, and campus purchases.

This is so anti-freedom on so many counts. These kids are basically under house arrest and have to wear an ankle monitor, for all intents and purposes. I hope somebody sues. Its a private college. Some parent has the money to sue. And if I were an alumni, I would cease all donations and make a stink with the fundraising dept.

Wanna treat your students like prisoners? They deserve the same treatment back like they are the guards.

That’s not a violation of your rights. That’s perfectly legal. It’s for your own safety.
