This is how twitter handles suspensions and reinstatements, and it's been seen in the past. When an account recovers from suspension the follower count slowly goes back up.
Back when Milo was on/off/on/off twitter you could see this on the regular.
Presumably this is to prevent excess load on the servers, possibly legacy code from when twitter had less

Here's a weird idea- They always had over 600k followers but Twitter's algorithm was suppressing a percentage of it, and the reset caused the number to be calculated properly.
I don't use Twitter, but after their bs yesterday I downloaded the Babylon Bee app to get their stories straight from them! Fuck twitter.
