I was passively listening to a livestream meeting of professional historians here in Australia a few weeks back and they were talking about the destruction of the statues of America. Eventually someone brought up the Frederick Douglass statue and I was actually refreshed and happy that, for once, someone would call out the rioters shit, and that all that property destruction meant nothing.
Nope. The destruction of all the "racist statues" was A-OK! The only reason Douglass's statue was toppled was because the racists wanted to get back at the peaceful protesters for destroying their idols.
