Was productive at the beginning of all this bull shit but slipped hard into depression. I miss my Job so fucking much its killing me. I'm now part time at home depot making in two weeks what I'm used to making in a day, and there is no sign of my industry coming back before 2021. Going back to retail after being successfully self employed in a field I love for a decade is humbling to say the least.

I had a calling out of nowhere to pick up the bible for the first time a few days ago. I finished the book of Mark and and plowing through Luke. I also watched the documentary Belly of the Beast: Directors Cut which really put me on course to believe this is a battle of good and evil and our President was chosen by God to fight this evil.

I joined a Gym yesterday and lifted for the first time in 10 years. Went back today and did not skip leg day. I'm sore, and tired, but that negative voice in my head that has been saying the worst shit to me over and over and over again the last few weeks has been silenced since my first set at the gym yesterday.

Just wanted to share with some people who would understand. I fucking love this place.

Thanks Frens.

EDIT: Thanks for all the encouragement, advice, and kind words. I love you all.

keep on going, there are way more good people like us than the assholes trying to tear everything down. we'll come out stronger in the end.

Thanks my dude :)

Your business will come back. You got there before. You’ll FUCKING DO IT AGAIN!!!! Just enjoy the smaller victories in life in the meantime, crush the gym, crush the evil spirits, and you’ll come out of this even stronger than before! We’re all in this mess together.

booshdag [S] 2 points ago +2 / -0

xoxo, thank you friend. We will all be stronger for this bull shit year.

Amen.

We are the 80%. We're just silenced.

Mrs_Fonebone 26 points ago +26 / -0

Way to hang in there and get control! I think a lot of us are going through something very similar--remember, NOTHING like this has EVER happened in this country before! So good on you!

Spoiler: God wins!

19
booshdag [S] 19 points ago +19 / -0

Thanks my friend. I'm starting to really see God and Jesus for what and who they are. I just don't understand how people get sucked into such evil :(

7
Mrs_Fonebone 7 points ago +8 / -1

It's an old, old story -- good vs evil and we are living in what will be one of the most important times in American history. Even though Trump's values have ignited many countries and many peoples to live better and resist evil. Some people have even called it a second "Great Awakening"!

Keep up with the weightlifting. Cardio helps too -- walking, jogging, etc.

15
booshdag [S] 15 points ago +16 / -1

Im doing 20 minutes of cardio after the weights and will add more time as I go. Got to burn this spare tire off! Thanks man.

11
Tranny_Fluid 11 points ago +11 / -0

If there are places to hike or walk out in the woods near you i highly recommend that for cardio. Something about being outdoors tends to have a positive effect on the brain. Also don't have to deal with masks or any of that bs

11
booshdag [S] 11 points ago +11 / -0

May favorite cardio is running outside but its just to damn hot right now. As soon as the weather gets to be tolerable I'll be putting the miles in.

8
LittleBlackKat 8 points ago +8 / -0

Ha. I row like a demon and still have some, uh, padding.

6
MuadDon 6 points ago +6 / -0

Also don't forget that you need to rest between workouts. I know the exhilaration of a great workout, especially when there's not much else to do rn and you just got back into it, but for real take it slow. If you're older than 30 and haven't been lifting for 10 years, you really shouldn't lift weights hard more than every other day. That's also to keep your mind rested - you don't want to overdo it physically, and certainly not at the beginning. Also remember to stretch beforehand if you're older than 30. Injuries happen more easily but not if you take care of yourself. Also I would look into doing yoga once a week. Amazing what it does for your mind/body connex.

Isn't amazing how out of the blue, the Call shows up. I find Kings pretty applicable to modern times,

I had it pretty hard too, self owned business. I almost didn't make it through May. Things are 1000× better than at the start. Less and less people are believing this bullshit.

8
booshdag [S] 8 points ago +8 / -0

I'll hop on Kings after Luke! Yeah it's really strange, I was an uninformed athiest all my life and then 2016 hit and everything started to change for me and all of a sudden the bible just started calling to me. I really don't understand it but I really like it.

Glad things are going better for you my friend!

pelosis_liver 5 points ago +5 / -0

Check out David Limbaugh’s books too. I read Emmaus Code and The True Jesus. I found them to be really good to provide context and the overarching story that the Bible is telling. I’ve read bits and pieces of the Bible randomly for over 30 years and, while that isn’t really a bad thing, you might get a lot more out of it if you’re familiar with the bigger picture. Stay strong!

5
booshdag [S] 5 points ago +5 / -0

Just ordered The True Jesus. Thanks for the recommendation, will be diving into that when it gets here!

8
Covfefette 8 points ago +8 / -0

Keep going! Sounds like you are not a normally-depressed person so you should be feeling better and better after regular excercise and fresh air. I believe better days are coming :)

8
booshdag [S] 8 points ago +8 / -0

I truly believe they are coming too, its just so hard to keep that positivity in the for front with everything going on right now. These evil idiots just keep trying to take everything away from good people... But you are right, better days are on the way.

7
Proud_American 7 points ago +7 / -0

Some peeps just gain weight easier than others. Not a biggie, especially if you’re at the gym.

The depression is warranted, but pinpointing the source doesn’t always make it better. You might have to struggle with it a bit, but don’t let it control your actions. It’s no fun trying to mask reality.

For me, the best medicine is telling myself I will make the right decision at the right time no matter the situation. It doesn’t bring happiness as much as acceptance of the unknown, but helps stabilize your mentality and emotions.

7
booshdag [S] 7 points ago +7 / -0

Man, I had to read that like 3 times. That is some really good advice, I'm going to steal that and use it as a mantra when the negative thoughts come creeping back in. Thank you so so much for that.

2
Proud_American 2 points ago +2 / -0

Just got back from work and read your reply. Happy my sentiments will be of some help.

7
TEXinLA 7 points ago +7 / -0

Go fishing. Walk your dog or someone else's. Take a drive somewhere nearby but out in the country. Go to a park and toss black oil sunflower seeds to the squirrels and birds.

None of these cost much but will lift your spirits. Good luck, Pede...

7
booshdag [S] 7 points ago +7 / -0

Before it got to be insanely hot everyday I would go for long rides out in the farm country on my motorcycles. It's just been to hot to spend any real time outside this time of year. As soon as it cools off I'm going to be soaking up that Vitamin D as hard as I can.

Thanks for the well wishes my fiend.

7
Icanteven 7 points ago +7 / -0

Hang in there bro. It'll get better sooner rather than later

6
51cab 6 points ago +6 / -0

Keep it up! I've been doing a ton of healthy cooking at home during the shutdown, and I've managed to lose 17 lbs so far over the last 6 mos. Added in yoga and not snacking much. Cut way back on alcohol. Saves a ton of extra calories. The only frustrating thing is that my husband can drop that weight in a month, but as a female it takes so long. MFP works amazingly well as long as you are faithful in your reporting, including any cheat days.

6
booshdag [S] 6 points ago +6 / -0

You keep it up too! Yeah, my wife is kind of resentful every time I'm like 2 weeks into getting back in shape because of how fast the weight falls off. I think it might take a little extra effort now that I'm 35 but I'm up for the challenge!

3
51cab 3 points ago +3 / -0

Lol! Yeah, age will do that. I've also had two big ol' baby boys, so things look a bit different, but I think I'm doing alright. I'm 37, not overweight, just wanna tighten back up. It really does feel better having a few lbs off.

6
Efrum 6 points ago +6 / -0

Keep yer chinup dude, don't givem the satisfaction.

6
Nomolies 6 points ago +6 / -0

That's great that you are waking up from the quarantine lethargy that has been oppressing so many people!

Keep reading Scripture as well as lifting weights. God wants us to strengthen ourselves spiritually as well as physically - making good use of our time, through the grace of Christ.

6
booshdag [S] 6 points ago +6 / -0

Amen my Trump loving brother.

6
Ms_deplorable 6 points ago +6 / -0

Hang in there! I’m in the exact same boat. Started a successful small business last year, it was great to be self employed and doing well at it to boot! I lost 70 lbs and felt like a rock star. Stupid panic-demic killed my business, I’m still crawling forward, but could no longer sustain it without additional income. I went back to work at Starbucks (facepalm, I know), but I needed the health insurance and some financial stability. In the meantime I gained 35 lbs of that weigh loss back...feeling pretty shitty, physically and mentally.

Just know you’re not alone. No matter what’s on the horizon, I know there’s an amazing group of people here on TD.win. Y’all are sticking it out same as I am. And I’d shit hits the fan, I know I’m not alone.

Perseverance, hard work, determination, these are the traits that will see us through in the end.

booshdag [S] 4 points ago +4 / -0

Im so sorry your going though it too right now :( Just like everyone in this thread is saying, its just a matter of time before the good days are upon us. Stay strong and I'll do the same :)

5
CucksRThem 5 points ago +5 / -0

Keep it up friend, you are absolutely 💯 correct. This is a battle for good and evil. Prepare your faith, be good to your family and be a new friend to those who need. Stay strong and healthy!!!

4
booshdag [S] 4 points ago +4 / -0

I'm really trying my best to be better to those around me, but it really is a struggle to understand everyone else is going through this same stupid bull shit too. Thanks for the kind words.

4
CucksRThem 4 points ago +4 / -0

My small business is down 60% in revenue, literally looking for other income streams to stay afloat. I know the pain, and I know you are on the right track. Fill up that faith cup. Fill up that physical strength cup. Both will be needed!!

5
catfoodsoup 5 points ago +5 / -0

I've been in the same boat, I was so productive early on but these past few weeks have felt like the end of me. I've been writing that "quarantine novel" lol, so I'm sooorta still productive, but that plus hating wading through the sea of mask-wearers has me being even more of a recluse than normal. I've been telling myself to go for walks but it's the middle of southern summer here, too many excuses and my energy and fitness is dissipating and making it worse and worse.

Even just reading about you joining a gym gives me hope though, so thank you so much for sharing here. I'm going to do my best to exercise every day too.

1
booshdag [S] 1 point ago +1 / -0

We have been on the exact same path. It's to hot to do anything outside here in Texas and the idea of going anywhere just seems like why bother, I'd rather just stay home than deal with this mask bull shit. I will tell you this though, from working at home depot, the majority of customers I talk to think its all bull shit also. I'll say openly to them I think its all going to disappear around November 4th and I have yet to get anything other than a positive reaction.

Get that blood pumping and you will feel better. I believe in you.

5
never_forget_seth 5 points ago +5 / -0

when times are tough it's up to you to pull yourself out. No one is going to get you out of that funk better than you can. Just do one thing that makes you better, then do the next thing, then do the next thing and never stop. Things will get better, this shit will be over soon and you'll be in a good position to get your old life back faster.

4

It will get better my internet friend. Just keep exercising your body (at the gym or by running) and your mind (with the Bible or other good books).

Heard this the other day: Life can be tough. Though it may be stormy now, it can’t rain forever.

Best of luck to you!

4

Good job friend and keep going!! Gyms are still closed in my area so I've been doing lots of workout videos on youtube. Keep your spirits high and good on you for diving into the bible. God speed and keep your head up fellow pede!

THD has great people. You're one of them. They had a great quarter +25%. Count blessings instead of sheep. You're going to come through this better than before. I feel it.

"Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." Philippians 4:6-7

I feel you! I’m in Melbourne, we’re completely locked down for a minimum of six weeks. At least I can work from home, but the lockdown, curfew, exercise restrictions, business shutdowns, and mandatory masks are so depressing I can hardly bear it. All for a disease with a median age of death well into the 80s and a death toll of a few hundred. The world has gone insane, it’s incredibly difficult.

Good for you on picking up the bible and the weights, that’s definitely the right path. Don’t let the bastards wear you down, you’re going to come back stronger.

2
booshdag [S] 2 points ago +2 / -0

I've gotten to spend a bunch of time in Melbourne through my work and it is such an awesome city. I'm so sorry for the authoritarian bull shit you guys are dealing with over there. But maybe this will be the catalyst for the large amount of people just like you to wake up and be heard. I'll be praying for you.

4

Hang tough, man. You're not alone. You're already following your own best advice.

I started watching comedy movies at night, especially from the late 2000's era. Really lifted my mood quite a bit. Maybe give it a shot?

4
booshdag [S] 4 points ago +4 / -0

I've been enjoying pretty much all movies I can find pre like 2012. A lot of thrillers and 90s lawyer dramas have been my go to. I'll take your advice and dive into some comedies!

4
V_exodus 4 points ago +4 / -0

You are doing well with such good choices. It does all start with taking better care of yourself, as you are, and being proactive. I hit that wall too... broke through it with baby-steps. I just keep hearing Trump say, never, ever give up. He has helped me so much.

4
booshdag [S] 4 points ago +4 / -0

He really is so inspiring. I get overly emotional when I think about what he is trying to do for all of us here in this country and all the shit he takes from these misguided people. He is a saint. He is doing it all at his own detriment because it is the right thing to do. May God bless and watch over him.

4
Rubberbunnies 4 points ago +4 / -0

You can do it! And thank you for sharing because it helps light the way for thousands that are looking for something good to hold on to.

One day at a time, and no zero days! We will fix all of this one way or another.

Don't feel bad, and keep up the exercise. The shit they're pulling is literally out of the psychological torture playbook (isolate, immobilize, instill fear) so lots of people are under going the same dark journey. Staying on top of your health is one of the best ways to get out from under this bullshit.

3
UnwaveringDefiance 3 points ago +3 / -0

When you are suffering, remember Christ crucified. Offer all your troubles to Christ as a personal sacrifice and carry your cross as He did. Things will get better.

Matt 6: 25Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? 26Look at the birds of the air: They do not sow or reap or gather into barns—and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? 27Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?f

28And why do you worry about clothes? Consider how the lilies of the field grow: They do not labor or spin. 29Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his glory was adorned like one of these. 30If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the furnace, will He not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?

31Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32For the Gentiles strive after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. 33But seek first the kingdom of Godg and His righteousness, and all these things will be added unto you.

34Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Today has enough trouble of its own.

Ditto, got furloughed can't get an interview, 2months out of work, stopped working out daughter leaving for college tomorrow and bills piling up. Wife is staying positive and supporting me so I decided today I'm going to turn this around. I've been very dedicated to sending out resumes almost every day since unemployment but I'm going to put down the booze, put on a smile and be the man God intended me to be. Don't know how this is going to turn out but I am going to pray, eat well, work out and do the best I can. Keep the faith fren. Well get through this.

I started rowing shortly after 9/11. I could barely do 40 reps on the rowing machine. I kept at it, slowly increasing the reps over time. Today, in 2020, I am still rowing but now I do 3 sets of 800 reps, while wearing a 30 pound weighted vest. That comes out to around 9 to 12 kilometers a day depending how energetic I feel. I am 20 years older but am in the best shape of my life.

4
booshdag [S] 4 points ago +4 / -0

Holy shit dude, that's amazing. There are two rowing machines at the Gym I'm going to, Maybe I'll start hopping on there for days 3 and 6 instead of just doing abs.

4
LittleBlackKat 4 points ago +4 / -0

I like rowing 'cause I can sit on my ass while working out. lol.

If they have Oartec machines, you're golden.

Thanks for sharing! We need more good news here and everywhere.

3
2SmoothGQ 3 points ago +3 / -0

Multiple things here. First. Take care of yourself. Glad you got into the gym. Keep it up. Physical health is mental health. First and foremost we are animals and are not meant to sit inside all day. Second, sorry about the job loss. This is a ton of bullshit and no one should have their living stripped from them. I would however highly suggest opening yourself up to moving anywhere in the country and start job hunting. No work is “bad” however you worked hard to provide a better life. You weren’t meant to work at Home Depot so don’t settle. I moved across the country to get the pay I deserved. Finally, you are awesome don’t forget that. Control what you can and everything else will come in God’s time. God bless pede.

I believe in you and We’ll all get out of this, stronger, healthier and better men.

3
booshdag [S] 3 points ago +3 / -0

“ These are the times that try men's souls: The summer soldier and the sunshine patriot will, in this crisis, shrink from the service of his country; but he that stands by it now, deserves the love and thanks of man and woman.”

“Tyranny, like hell, is not easily conquered; yet we have this consolation with us, that the harder the conflict, the more glorious the triumph.”

These two quotes are as true as they ever were.

read some Diogenes, his dark humor will most likely lift up your spirit. Also what makes his shit more hilarious is that 2000 years later his complaints and observations about human nature are just as relevant.

Fun fact about him, Alexander the Great aka one of the greatest of Great Emperors revered him as he was one of the very few who didn't suck up to him and just brought the spice every time they met.

3
SharpCookie 3 points ago +3 / -0
  1. you should pick up the Navarre Bible - it has history footnotes to give you context about what was going on.
  2. pick up a technical book of some kind and devote a few hours a day reading it. Do it as if it were a job, I.e. Don't drink or smoke before you read, just muscle through it as if you were at work.

You'll end up setting yourself up for a better future, show prospective employers that you're a hard worker even during hard times. You'll show them that you're curious, personally interested in things, and have your own motivation.

4
booshdag [S] 4 points ago +4 / -0

That's a great idea. No drinking or smoking here. Been sober 5 years. Only vice I have left is coffee and cigars ha. There are other aspects of my industry I should really take the time to learn and get more familiar with. Im going to take this advice. Thank you sir.
