There's no denying that the purges were brutal, they were ruthless, and that they had still-unclear and debated but huge casualty rates. But I also won't deny that they worked. Communism (and anarchism) has not threatened Indonesia ever since, despite its Communist Party having been the third-largest in the world at three million members immediately prior to the purge.
And if nothing else, Keese Love has shown that he certainly merits 'brutal' and 'ruthless' treatment through his actions and intentions.
I have put it this way: our time to be heroes is soon. We know that our 'shot heard round the world' won't last for 245 years, but it will last for longer than the 20 our founding Fathers feared would've been their limit. Those are good odds.
That's a history lesson we should be teaching to kids. Not "deconstruct whitnesy, and Marx good". The lesson should be lesson 1) the evils of Communism with examples. Lesson 2) what happens to commies when people have had enough and they get what they deserve.
