Safety is an agreement: "Let's not fuck each other up because that would be worse for everybody, all the time".

Unless the state steps in, that agreement will be permanently broken.

Some people would rather that was the case. Living in their gated communities with private security while you sit there disarmed and fearful while preaching to you about toxic masculinity and patriarchy.
