What if they directly seek and enjoy what they themselves consider genuinely (extremely or more) evil? Not caring about the consequences for everyone, or for some of them, directly seeking death and destruction for all, themselves included? Or worse yet?
This is exactly what a large portion of these people want, long ago many made the choice they didn't have what it takes to put their nose down and work toward a goal. It's far easier to try to drop out of society. Now those people are emboldened because there are no consequences for their actions.
Animals know right from wrong. Those groups, on the other hand, do not - or they choose to ignore societal norms.
