My sister got her CCW and she's the kinda' bitch to pop off over some dumb shit...so far, so good...Actually sort of proud of her. She carries a little 6-mag .45 ACP with hollow points. Not fucking around, lol.
I fired hers a few times, it actually didn't recoil too bad for a .45 - I expected worse. She handled it well...but still needs work IMO, she didn't hit my target at all that I blast with shotgun slugs all the time from my deck. ;)
Can't imagine .22 LR for a CWW - is that very effective, even? Small rounds...
I've heard some people even get hit by 9mm a few times and are still up.
I don't have a CCW and don't even have a pistol. I like shotguns and rifles myself. Considering CCW lately though.
Rimfire (22LR) is more prone to misfire and failures than centerfire (9s, 45s, etc). The 22LR is deadly though and if you get high quality ammunition, it's not very likely. (CCI mini mags, etc). The ammo is cheap as hell and the guns are tiny. It can work. Shot placement is #1 for stopping an attacker.
I firmly believe in the 22lr. Plus, shooting something that you're so familiar with and comfortable shooting has got to make a difference. Confidence is everything.
I shot a .22LR Glock (Glock 44) this week. The Glock has a polymer frame and god damn it was light. Pick up the Glock, and then any other gun, and the glock again... and god damn its a different world because of how light it is. It's so light it feels like a toy and there aren't many pistols that will make you think that way.
The .22LR is fine for people who like to shoot cheaply, or don't have confidence handling higher caliber firearms. With effectiveness, it'll be the worst day of someone's life if they're shot with it.
I know a lot of punks and thugs who always have a gun on them. You should CCW because the bad guys always do.

Wow. .45ACP for a woman is pretty rare. Usually they go with the .22LR or 9MM.
