I noticed back in the primary debates, it sounded like roaring applause, but they panned over the audience and their reaction didn’t match.
I was reading today on /r/politicaldiscussion that they did not have any crowd noise which made a lot of the speeches fall short. No cheering at lines made to generate it, a clear sense that the speakers were not able to feed off the crowd energy, etc. I think the general consensus was the production just felt stale. Not only the speakers but also the musical acts and whatever else was happening.
