This isn't true. The Democrats have shown us the flaws in our system. The things we took for granted. What they've shown us is the loopholes and gaps in our system that need to be plugged.
We have a who watches the watchmen problem.
There's no accountability, auditing, balance, stop gaps, etc in place to prevent bad faith actors from destroying and dismantling our systems.
We shouldn't have positions of power, we should have positions of management.
They shouldn't be able to "dismantle or defund the police" that should have to go to the public for a vote. They shouldn't be able to "let people go without charges". If the get a charge, they go to court and they get the same sentencing everyone else gets. They want change in laws, sentencing, etc, it needs a vote. Can't force people to wear masks, not be able to go to church, buy guns, etc.
They shouldn't be changing their state constitution at a whim, trying to circumvent the constitution and the bill of rights by implementing crazy shit. If they want to implement crazy shit, it needs to be approved as legitimate and voted upon. Instead of implementing and then they get to use it until it gets challenged years later.
How can we make politicians vote themselves out of their jobs? The only way it could be done is to have a national referendum, but that would also require amendment to the US constitution.
The key is to ban corporate lobbying so that politicians cannot put special interest ahead of the people who voted for them. Imagine all the riots on K-street if this were to happen.
We have a broken system. It takes an outsider like Trump who tries to drain the swamp, but he is only one man. Perhaps when things become so bad and people are fed up enough that they’d march on the Capitol Hill, then these corrupt politicians would know that they’d better change.
The Founding Fathers didn’t mean it to be. You were supposed to serve your term, then go back home and take care of your own affairs. They looked at political office like we look at jury duty.
THIS^^ Mandatory term limits (in all democratically run countries). And I would actually like to see pre-requisites like having say 15 years doing real life work etc first. Australia is infested with career politicians.
Many of the things you list probably weren't oversights, either, but dismissed by the framers/system designers as simply too outrageous to bother with. Like legally declaring America's national sky color to be blue.
Put another way, they literally couldn't imagine insane idiot moron puppet tools ever having any legal power.
A crystal clear example of how "Beginnings are the most important of times."

The Democrats have taught us a lot.
And to add to this. Politics should not be a career.
amen
You'd have to have term limits for lobbyists too lol
Or we could just jail all of them because lobbying is basically corruption.

Except for Trump.
Like he says, he deserves a redo for the time wasted with Mueller and Schitt.

Term limits are going to be a crucial accomplishment to get done.
Problem is that the ones to implement term limits are career politicians who will fight tooth and nail to prevent it.

100% agree.

An amendment making English the official language would have been nice
THIS!!!
Amen.
They certainly have taught us a lot. But have we learned?
Sometimes people have to be shown before they'll believe
Great comment.
