Bezos using the postal service to put local businesses under. Make Amazon actually pay for their business model. They have basically been government subsidized for years.
Yeah why are liberals, who are traditionally anti-corporation because capitalism bad, suddenly defending companies and using companies like NIKE as their champion??
Oh yeah, because they're brainwashed by companies and do their bidding.
BULL SHIT ON THES COMMUNISTS LIBERALS WHO WORK FOR THEM..SEND THEN TO THE STREETS TO LIVE. . THE DEMS STATES HAVE NO MONEY. go to np home in sf. she has stolen millions like all of the obama adm. did.
No wonder the U.S. Postal Service has been going bankrupt and perpetually overspending - because Amazon Inc is taking ADVANTAGE of them while paying next to zip in effective taxes. This needs to be remedied immediately. The taxpayers should not be forced to subsidize a private company in this manner except by vote of public referendum or elected representatives.
This discussion is about USPS, not child labor camps in China. If you want to have a serious discussion about the latter, you should head on over to /r/nba or /r/nike.
Im ok with corp taxes to fund military. No personal income tax. Income tax is a cost of legal liability protection. Corporations, in the past were temporary to complete dangerous projects like transcontinental railroads, to protect the owners from losing everything over an employee death or injury. The executives have no personal responsibility which leads to shotty products
It’s not just amazon. It’s e-commerce and really all package rates in general. In the post office every package is massively cheaper than FedEx. On Mercari I can ship a package via USPS for $4.99 that costs $9.99 on UPS.
USPS is just stupid signing all these low price rate deals, and having stupid low pricing.
There is a reason UPS doesn’t compete on rate. Because it’s impossible to do so while maintaining a profitable business!
It is because they are subsidized by the government. Waste of money. Liberals would try to smugly say "Achtually the government doesn't subsidize the USPS." They basically do in a roundabout way. The USPS gets loans from the government, yet they report a loss every single year. How the fuck are you going to pay pack a loan when you aren't making any money? Government giving money to an organization without them paying it back sounds like subsidization to me.
Too fucking late, Amazon already used the USPS like a dirty slut. Now they have set up a lot of last mile delivery and don't need the USPS much. BTW fuck the bitchass GOP that let shit like this happen and continue to happen from the megacorps.
On top of whatever deal they made with the heads of the USPS, Amazon also bribed local congresscunts with distribution centers located in their districts.
The problem, as usual, is the corruption of our fucking elected "representatives".
Amazon is a cunt ... but it's hard to hate the player when we should really hate the game.
Yep. They're building a biggun near me. The state and local stooges championed the project for the jobs it'll bring (to be filled by the desperate, the drug-addled, or the deportable from across the river), even as Bezos bucks burst from the seams of their suits.
The other Amazon center here is regarded as Hell on Earth by anyone unfortunate enough to have worked there, and once the new battle station fulfillment center is fully-operational, the traffic it will bring will make the area a total clusterfuck.
The site where this abomination is going up evokes images of Isengard, what with the air traffic control tower looming over the desolation. However, Bezosville will probably be more akin to the Pits of Hathsin once it is finished. Regardless, this plays whenever I drive near it.
I have yet to hear of anything but horror stories from Amazon DCs. Not sure how it is now, but when one opened near me a few years ago, people were hired for three 12 hour shifts/week or four 10 hour shifts /week. All too often they were told, were behind schedule your 10 hour shift is now a 12 within a few hours of their scheduled end or just before leaving after a 12 hour shift around 8 PM, show up tomorrow at 6 AM for a mandatory 12 hour shift.
They are small insignificant shitbags who gain a modicum of power and think they are little gods over their workers it's like that with a lot of middle management positions. Dilbert got it right to be honest with the corporate promotion system
Just flabbergasts me that there's not someone further up the chain who could fire these clowns, though.
These are hourly workers. Simple power bi dashboard ought to be able to break down shift statistics. I see a bunch of employees averaging more than 8 or 10 hours per day, and I'm gonna fire me some managers. Henry Ford didn't die so we could fuck up his production theories.
With the upcoming anti-trust legislation, it seems likely that Amazon's delivery service will be turned into a completely separate company that will have to support itself.
I was just shopping Amazon Pantry today for some unusual items I can't get nearby when I noticed that they ship liquid laundry detergent. A gallon of it. For free. For the same price as Walmart. Of course, they use their own vans now. But it costs me $5 at the PO just to ship a tiny little half pound package. Something is really broken in that system.
Amazon can ship free because they can afford to not profit or even lose on the sale. Their profit margin is TINY. But they gain it back by slowly becoming the only player in town and buying a ton of other profitable businesses.
They also need to stop protecting shitty employees.
Today I finally received my memorial bracelet that has been sitting "in transit" for 36 days. There were two holes cut in the packaging... said memorial bracelet was nowhere to be found. This is a bubble package, it's obvious that the item was cut out of it. If someone were to steal something like this, imagine what else they would steal.
If I need to ship something valuable it goes via UPS or FedEx. It may cost more bit it actually shows up with valid tracking along the way.
USPS will say in transit for days with no scans. You mean to tell me in the last 8 days my packages "in transit" hasn't hit one sorting facility when is was supposed to be delivered in 2 days.
Internet killed the post office, only reason they are even around is because the fed are too cowardly to shut it down. USPS is s a float due to nothing more than unwanted spam mail and subsidized free delivery. The only solution I want to see is the reduction of USPS staff to the point where only bills and letters with stamps make it to your mailbox. Massive junk mail relief we all deserve including the planet.
USPS was based on 80% of its revenue from First Class mail. And now that's simply gone. The average american receives only 1.5 pieces of mail a day anymore. Shit, I get about 3 days a week with an empty mail box. They're absolutely fucked right now.
I've said that we need to cut Sat delivery at a minimum, and possibly only deliver 3 days/wk for residential customers. If you need something delivered on Sat, charge extra like FedEx.
What so many people here fail to realize is what's actually expensive is the last mile. USPS is pretty much mandated to service every address, which is why they charge roughly the same rate no matter where it goes.
Compare that to UPS or FedEx. If you're a commercial address in a big city, you're cheap to deliver to. If you live out in a farm 50 miles away from the nearest anything, you're expensive as fuck to ship to. Delivery area fee. Remote area fee. Residential delivery fee. Rural area fee (yes all 4). I have literally paid ups more money to ship a one pound package 500 miles away than I have to ship a 30 pound box 2,200 miles away. Because that 30 pound box went to a major city and a business address, whereas for that one pound box, the ups driver took two hours to make that one delivery and used a quarter tank of gas in the process.
But of course many people here live out in the middle of nowhere. They don't realize how much companies actually pay to ship to you. You don't realize how much city people are subsidizing your shipping. Most businesses realize that the vast vast majority of their business (unless it's a business specifically targeting the rural demographic) will be people in big cities and randomly paying a little more to deliver to someone in a very rural area isn't a big deal.
I went to the post office today to buy some stamps. The people in line were apologizing to the workers for what they are going through in these troubling times each time one of them was called to the desk. These people are clowns! 🤡
Guy behind the counter last week thought I was going to sympathize with him when he started complainig about orange man bad. I let him know amazon wasn’t helping them and told him I like President Trump.
It's ridiculous when shipping from China to America is somehow cheaper than shipping from America to itself. Stop with the handouts to other countries, let's see how long their communist policies last without America paying their bills and protecting their borders for them.
There is a reason why UPS and FedEx aren’t competitive with USPS on prices prices...they can’t!
It costs what it costs to deliver, and USPS is undercharging everyone and everything! They need to raise package rates. Force them to compete against private companies on price and service quality will go up too.
They claimed it was unsubstantiated but then went on and talked about how Amazon gets discounts and how everyone is losing money because of amazon. For fucks sake, man. If Obama tweeted this they would've ruled the claim as true.
That is the ONE big way to nail Bezos. He made his fortune off the backs of ordinary people and especially postal workers. I was an amazon seller for five years, making $40K per month at my peak. But amazon, the company sucked! They stole inventory and then tried to sell it in competition to me at a much lower price. It was my proprietary product, so I knew it was mine. No one else had access to the product! In 2017, I terminated Amazon. Money is not everything. But tripling their postal rates would kill their PRIME business and cost Bezos hundreds of millions of dollars. I say do it! And do it NOW.
How confident are we that this kind of sweet heart government contract deal isn't just deep state paying for their back door into Amazon servers and data?
THIS IS FROM My FRIENDS IN EUROPE. THE DNC IS green on the outside and red communists china in the the inside. just like a water mellon . smash this party down for our freedom. who in the hell would listen to ANy of these DNC LIARS.
How about we stop subsidizing the packages rates from china before we go after American companies . You get free shipping from china because the USA subsidizes it, if you ever try to return a product you figure out the real cost of trans oceanic mail
No the US Government needs TO STOP TAKING OUTRIGHT a large Chunk of the USPS income and let them operate as a State owned business.
USPS makes money but the Feds take if right off the top when in reality they DON'T NEED money from the Fed's if they were actually ALLOWED TO OPERATE LIKE A BUSINESS and not a government agency.
USPS is actually classified as a government owned business not an agency.
ya know, TBH, the USPS should just be privatised 100% in an IPO. Our HM The Royal Mail was spun off from the taxpayer teat a good 25 years ago and it was way better after that.
Who knew? USPS should be run as a business to turn a profit and actually improve...
I don’t quite know the ins and outs of the US post system, is USPS protected from competition by disallowing say FedEx or UPS from starting their own letter services?
This is such a given, I can't believe there's an argument. They get subsidized shipping AND don't have to pay sales tax in most locales, which gives them a super advantage over mom and pop shops.
To be honest, shipping costs would go up somewhat, but honestly I'd be okay with that. Between Amazon and the Postal service stuff gets delivered in time frames you would never expect.
Dear Bezos, you and your WaPo trash wanna start a Post Office hoax? OK ... try this on for size asshole.
They don’t call it The Washington Hoax for nothin
The Washington Compost
Mark Levin's name for it right? I've always heard him call it that.
and the New York Slimes
Possibly, I heard it somewhere else and it’s stuck with me. Whenever I see their name it reminds me of the shit they call journalism.
I heard it from Mark Dice, but he probably got it from somewhere else
Heard it from Rush many years ago
I heard it from my parents gardener 25 years ago and I told my dentist. That’s how it has been passed on.
The Atlanta Urinal and Constipation
Short for Communist post.
I prefer the Washing Post.
I just call it “asswipe”.
Bezos using the postal service to put local businesses under. Make Amazon actually pay for their business model. They have basically been government subsidized for years.
Donald Trump don't trust Amazon
Amazon is asshoe
Liberals:
"But AMAZON DOESN'T HAVE MONEY, YOU ARE LITERALLY GONNA BANKRUPT THEM. WE LOVE BIG BUSINESSES NOW, REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE"
Yeah why are liberals, who are traditionally anti-corporation because capitalism bad, suddenly defending companies and using companies like NIKE as their champion??
Oh yeah, because they're brainwashed by companies and do their bidding.
Because those very same corporations that liberals hate are the ones that are funneling billions of dollars to them.
Corporate Stockholm Syndrome.
And they get all their news from corporations.
That idea is fucking Jurassic boomer level thinking that hasn’t been even remotely true in over a decade.
Because they want to enslave people and make them work globally under the government.
Was trying to figure how Liberals could take anything he said in this tweet and not think hes right about it, you're probably right.
BULL SHIT ON THES COMMUNISTS LIBERALS WHO WORK FOR THEM..SEND THEN TO THE STREETS TO LIVE. . THE DEMS STATES HAVE NO MONEY. go to np home in sf. she has stolen millions like all of the obama adm. did.

We also subsidize mail coming in from China.
Cancel ePacket completely. It's sometimes cheaper to get something from China than across the US.
In a perfect world, we shut China off like North Korea is.
In a perfect world, we stop trade with China. and make more stuff over here
Oh god yes
This right here is what is totally fucked. I can get a package from China cheaper than if my neighbor mailed me a package.
Because some poor slave in China is working with no pay, that's why. And the left is praising these corporations..
OP is referring to just the cost of shipping.
¿Porque no los dos?
This discussion is about USPS, not child labor camps in China. If you want to have a serious discussion about the latter, you should head on over to /r/nba or /r/nike.
It's almost as if economic systems are interconnected or something...
For non-letter packages under a pound it's almost always cheaper to get something via ePacket from China than it is to ship cross country via USPS.
Thought he ended this a while back ago? I swear I heard about this and libs complaining international mail would become super costly
It's crazy to think it's cheaper to mail a package from Beijing to Memphis than it is to mail a package from Philadelphia to Memphis.
taxation is theft tho
Taxation is extortion because we pay under duress.
Tariffs on foreign trade funded our government for roughly half it's life. Why we'd instead subsidize foreign trade is certainly odd.
The other half has involved us policing the world and trying to drag certain groups into the modern age.
It’s not just amazon. It’s e-commerce and really all package rates in general. In the post office every package is massively cheaper than FedEx. On Mercari I can ship a package via USPS for $4.99 that costs $9.99 on UPS.

Yes, but USPS shouldn't be allowing anyone to take advantage of them... they just deliberately run shittily.
Too fucking late, Amazon already used the USPS like a dirty slut. Now they have set up a lot of last mile delivery and don't need the USPS much. BTW fuck the bitchass GOP that let shit like this happen and continue to happen from the megacorps.

It only got more common as turnover increased.
I really don't understand why companies do this. It's management 101 that this shit only damages productivity
They are small insignificant shitbags who gain a modicum of power and think they are little gods over their workers it's like that with a lot of middle management positions. Dilbert got it right to be honest with the corporate promotion system

amazon is coming to my small midwest town, that’s how I know its too late.
With the upcoming anti-trust legislation, it seems likely that Amazon's delivery service will be turned into a completely separate company that will have to support itself.
WHEW LAD! USPS is in play!
I was just shopping Amazon Pantry today for some unusual items I can't get nearby when I noticed that they ship liquid laundry detergent. A gallon of it. For free. For the same price as Walmart. The play the game of a true monopoly.
It costs like $10 to ship a damn phone. It's crazy.
I love him constantly calling out Amazon. But reeeeeeee muh mail boxes.
He's not wrong.
He's absolutely right. Its only fair what he's saying. They just disagree because he's saying it, thats it.
The madman kneecapped the feminists and the post office screechers today and ol Billy Jeff still hasn't given his speech yet. Lol what a day
As a smaller business owner the extra costs are being passed along to us.
We shouldn't be subsidizing small businesses either \s
They could raise Prime membership fees, maybe switch it to monthly or something, or limit the number of delivery days to once or twice a week.
Congress is shit in getting things done.
"Congress is sh*t"
FTFY
UPS has left the chat
Ask any business owner. Breaking even means you're losing money.

$3000 per share i think they can afford it

Good, fuck bezos
I'm sure this has nothing to do with the Washington Post constantly working against President Trump. /s
They should pay actual shipping costs. Which being government run is probably higher then fedex and ups.
Yes, how could anyone argue with this, that we shouldn't be subsidizing the biggest corporation in the world
It's ridiculous when shipping from China to America is somehow cheaper than shipping from America to itself. Stop with the handouts to other countries, let's see how long their communist policies last without America paying their bills and protecting their borders for them.
It’s amazing how leftists advocate for Marxism and Corporatism at the same time.
Almost just like the Nazis
I may believe the Nazis to be Socialists, but I do not believe they were marxists.
What’s the difference
Seriously, it's so simple... The post office got a raw deal from Amazon.
I am a usps employee but feel like an amazon employee. It's a joke.
I love him.
There is a reason why UPS and FedEx aren’t competitive with USPS on prices prices...they can’t!
It costs what it costs to deliver, and USPS is undercharging everyone and everything! They need to raise package rates. Force them to compete against private companies on price and service quality will go up too.
$1.46 of every package amazon sends is subsidized by taxpayer money.
I googled how much Amazon is paying the USPS and I came across one of these fact checking links:
https://checkyourfact.com/2018/04/04/fact-check-does-amazon-cost-the-postal-service-a-fortune/
They claimed it was unsubstantiated but then went on and talked about how Amazon gets discounts and how everyone is losing money because of amazon. For fucks sake, man. If Obama tweeted this they would've ruled the claim as true.

I love this president.
r usps is losing their shit right now. those people are deranged.

I wish the USPS would stop subsidizing spam. Kramer was ahead of the times when he wanted to opt out of mail permanently.
Bezos needs to pay his fair share
This is such a given, I can't believe there's an argument. They get subsidized shipping AND don't have to pay sales tax in most locales, which gives them a super advantage over mom and pop shops.
Reminds me of when and why the Railway Express Agency went under.
The 4D chess master lands yet another checkmate
I do eBay. $3 to send a 4 oz video game. guess how much amazon pays?
Make them pay!
