I was just shopping Amazon Pantry today for some unusual items I can't get nearby when I noticed that they ship liquid laundry detergent. A gallon of it. For free. For the same price as Walmart. Of course, they use their own vans now. But it costs me $5 at the PO just to ship a tiny little half pound package. Something is really broken in that system.
Amazon can ship free because they can afford to not profit or even lose on the sale. Their profit margin is TINY. But they gain it back by slowly becoming the only player in town and buying a ton of other profitable businesses.

The play the game of a true monopoly.
It costs like $10 to ship a damn phone. It's crazy.
