I have yet to hear of anything but horror stories from Amazon DCs. Not sure how it is now, but when one opened near me a few years ago, people were hired for three 12 hour shifts/week or four 10 hour shifts /week. All too often they were told, were behind schedule your 10 hour shift is now a 12 within a few hours of their scheduled end or just before leaving after a 12 hour shift around 8 PM, show up tomorrow at 6 AM for a mandatory 12 hour shift.

It only got more common as turnover increased.

I really don't understand why companies do this. It's management 101 that this shit only damages productivity

They are small insignificant shitbags who gain a modicum of power and think they are little gods over their workers it's like that with a lot of middle management positions. Dilbert got it right to be honest with the corporate promotion system

Just flabbergasts me that there's not someone further up the chain who could fire these clowns, though.

These are hourly workers. Simple power bi dashboard ought to be able to break down shift statistics. I see a bunch of employees averaging more than 8 or 10 hours per day, and I'm gonna fire me some managers. Henry Ford didn't die so we could fuck up his production theories.
