“There’s always been boys who ask, ‘Don’t girls just lie [about rape], though?,’ and we do want to take those questions seriously,” Ferderber says. “But increasingly they’re using language that sounds straight from Reddit, and they aren’t satisfied with an answer or a statistic I can cite. These are teenage boys who have MRA talking points. They’re extremely fixated on the idea of false accusations and they talk a lot about women getting a lot of money by accusing men of rape, but when pressed, they don’t really know how that would happen.”
So 14-15 year old boys getting bombarded with "Believe All Women" and "All men are rapists", but they don't want to rape anyone, they don't know anyone who does, and they fear false accusations because they see that you're just supposed to believe. They're noticing their status as second class citizens. They're seeing the good sense in ideas like Pence's "no dinner with any female without my wife there." But this just must be right wing radicalization. After all, they can't fully explain all aspects of the legal system like out of court settlements or how the media or Patreon throws money at victim narrative. This means their positions hold no merit. These ideas just catch onto them not because they reflect a reality these boys find more in line with their lives, arguments better than yours, but because it's somehow evil.
Also had a teacher in the article complaining that they can't out-argue them and it makes them embarrassed in front of your class. You're a teacher, teach---teach how to think, not what to think. Why is that such a lost concept?
Did her graduating project on it, fame, money. It was a good run for her, while that poor guy had to sweat out his future because he was tried in a kangaroo college court instead of a proper legal court with innocent until proven guilty.
But young boys who express concerns about this are just radicalized, just disrupting class, discussing it with them, especially when we can't argue them down, wouldn't be good for the rest of the class!
