I live in California and its depressing every time I go out for anything. I haven't seen anyone mask-less face outside for months. There are signs everywhere NO MASK NO SERVICE, NO MASK GTFO. There are reminders over the airwaves / PA everywhere that you must obey or be fined / kicked out / banned from the stores.

People driving alone in their car with masks on. People getting haircuts / nails outdoors in the heat, with their face diaper on - sweat dripping. People standing in lines, obediently on top of little circles to get into a store.

Its depressing - I started to look at everyone as NPCS in a video game - robots, decorations that i have to go around to get to my goal. I have noticed I am no longer polite, nor acknowledge anyone. I just run past people, cut them off if i need to.

I no longer greet people because I hate talking with a mask on, nor want to decipher what they are saying from feets away, behind a piece of plexiglass, attempting to talk thru a stupid mask. A smile from a stranger after making eye contact in a distant memory. Its sunny as fuck outside but the feeling is grim.

No human interaction. Today an older lady dropped her keys on the floor and me and other people just walked past her, instead of the picking it up for her - like common courtesy would dictate. What if she goes apeshit because i touched her keys? No longer are people offering to help each other at stores to grab something that is out of reach. Everyone is just walking aimlessly, afraid of interacting with each other. Robots. Literall fucking NPC's.

Is this the future we are headed towards?. In America none the less.

Fellow Californian here. This mask mania is absolutely out of control. I went to the DENTIST the other day and everyone was wearing a mask, including the dr, and he never took it off once, even when he was talking to me from the doorway. They told me I had to wear one when I was waiting in the chair to see the dentist! With nobody else in the room! I refused to put it back on after my exam and sat there asking questions. The dr and asst backed off like I had the plague and tried to hurry me out.

Tonight I had to call UPS to get some info. It was a video call and the girl answered - wearing a mask. She was alone in her office in a warehouse. I kinda laughed and said “oh, you’re wearing a mask...for a video call?” She just shrugged like “what ya gonna do?” This is how “normalized” this bizarre behavior has become, I feel like I’m in a never ending Twilight Zone episode.

the mask has many porpoises, dehumanization is one. subjugation is the primary.

resist the mask, resist the dehumanity. help the lady, if she defers, that's her anus. it's always been.

don't force the mask on others, don't force your "helpfulness" on others. right of refusal is good, respect that.

The goal is inherent in what it is called: "social distancing". Burn all the social bridges so that people will accept the state more readily.

i live in SF, i dont wear a mask in most situations. i picked something someone dropped the other day by reflex and wondered if theyd be pissed. they just said thanks and looked happy. i suspect a lot of ppl follow orders because theyre scared of being judged, not because they like it. i don't care about most ppls judgement.

I know. I was at the deli counter waiting behind a lady in a scooter. When the guy was done the order, she painfully started unfolding herself to get up. I jumped forward to get the meat bags and hand them to her. Then I realized I was supposed to be a leper and could not touch her items. The deli guy did run them out to her, and thanked me for my attempt. How awkward.
