I don't get this. Who is to say that there's a perfect distribution of Republican, democrat, and independent? Shouldn't they just call 1000 random numbers?

Not if they want to use the poll to push a narrative.

Also you can't even trust a 1000 sample because a TON of Trump supporters fear the violence if the info ever goes public that they support Trump.

That is why we have secret ballots and NOT mass mail in voting.
