Every Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard needs to be renamed. Or destroyed. Why is it that naming a street after the civil rights leader is an automatic invite for drug dealers to take over?

Sounds good. But how will people know what neighborhood to avoid in a new town? MLK Boulevard location is how you know where the crime infested ghetto is.

It would be fun to watch them condemn Trump if he pardoned MLK for one of his arrests on the 60’s.

I think they've given up on this strategy. It would backfire within a core Dem base. The last one was a test. The numbers aren't planning out.

Good. Gives him more time to actually help the nation that put him in office, instead of pandering to groups who will never support him .

Rename all MLK Jr. Blvd's to George Floyd III Blvds, as he exemplifies everything the current American Black community reveres.

Why didn’t he open with this?

Because Susan B Anthony's pardon was on the 100th anniversary of America's second biggest mistake.

Lol.

Ok, what was the first biggest?

Immigration act of 65. Partial credit if you answered “slavery” though.

2
JesusisKing 2 points ago +2 / -0

what was like 2% of whites and 7.5% of freed blacks owned slaves?

Dropping out of Europe in WW2 after Nazi Germany was neutralized. Bombs should have continued to drop in Russia and into China. We could have created Pax Americana.

Hoping for Assange :(

Assange was super based and even referenced that IQ thing once. He's been through hell and back and deserves some respite.

Well, too late. MLK is already racist according to the left - he promoted "color blindness" (i.e. eveyone should be treated equally regardless of their race) and if you read wikipedia it's already listed as form of racism: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Racism#Color_blindness (if you are "color blind" then you oppose affirmative action etc.)

CovfefeCommando 2 points ago +2 / -0

Yeah, but the left has started to distance themselves from King. "Content of character" is antithetical to their ideology. I don't even get a counterpoint to the quote anymore. Just sarcasm and dismissal out of hand.

can Trump pardon someone relevant like snowden or assange?

Not pander to blacks so he can get 6% of their vote instead of 5%

Seabring 13 points ago +14 / -1

I'd argue that these somewhat symbolic pardons continue to allow for the left to embarrass themselves in the public eye. Hard to praise a MLK pardon at the same time you're repealing civil rights laws in a place like CA.

Yeah he should pardon some more relevant people, but all of these "optics" do matter in terms of letting the American people get a full picture of the left.

True i spose

PrecisionStrike 2 points ago +2 / -0

I agree with what u/Seabring said. I'd also like to add that pardoning either of those two would let the Dems use it as "proof" he's colluding with hackers and Russia. The media circus would be non-stop. Why give them the ammo? And even if we would debunk and meme them like before, why waste that effort 75 days before the election?

It'd be better to wait until after November 3rd and he already has his second term. With these other pardons the only way the left can criticize them is to humiliate themselves with mental gymnastics.

OranjeBlanjeBlou 2 points ago +2 / -0

The media circus IS nonstop. Regardless of whether we give them ammo. It’s way past time we realized that and went on with our lives.

I'll only be okay with this if he gets pardoned of all the dirt the FBI has on him but hasn't declassed yet. Pardon him for participating in gang rapes and tax fraud.

The IRS never charged him for accepting payments from the Communist Party, to the tune of 10k(87,000 today).

Edit - source https://standpointmag.co.uk/issues/june-2019/the-troubling-legacy-of-martin-luther-king/

Also, holy shit- this Communist, Levison was basically paying MLK so that he could write some of his speeches.
