I think expecting most of us to pay attention is not realistic. They already lost their rights when they gave up arms. This was inevitable in a place where people were willing to give up liberty for safety. I feel bad for them but they lost this battle long ago and paying attention now seems a bit pointless.

No. We don't have to pay attention to Australia. We are their geopolitical allies but their domestic policies are none of our business. It is utter ridiculousness to involve ourselves in Australia's internal affairs. Also, Australia has a long history of solving social problem and compliance issues by removing children. They have literally been doing it since the turn of the century. They have a different system than we do and their system works well for them.
It's not our country. Australia has been our closest military ally. Why on Earth do you want to start shit with them just to justify your fear of what may happen in the U.S.? If you want to turn the U.S. around politically and socially, stop fear mongering about what happens in Australia. As I said, Australia has been using the removal of children as a social compliance tool for a long, long time. If Australians don't like it, they confront their own dirty past of their own elected government doing this to criminals, eccentrics and Aboriginals.
