But all of those territories were sold in extremely different eras and situations than the present era. Alaska is the most similar in situation as far as I can see, though that was sold in 1867, and Alaska is not an island as such and is also closer geographically. If Canada became part of the USA, Greenland would be considerably closer to the USA geographically. But you would have to clean up Canada.

I've been to enough of the smaller islands in that area to recognize a general pattern- most of those small islands have a very similar culture: lazy, "tourists will support us," "colonizers owe us," and so on.

I worked with some PR's in TX. Some of the most hard-working, funny, kind people I've ever had the pleasure in being around. Like most things, there truly are a few people that divide us when we truly have so much more in common with each other. In WW2, we occupied it and had several naval and air bases there while the Danes were actively collaborating with real Nazis. Truman broached the subject of buying it but was repulsed. We established a massive airbase that is still active. We abandoned several naval bases that the Chinese tried to buy. Fortunately the Danes refused to sell to them. It would be a boon for the 57,000 Greenlanders to become Americans. In the meantime, the U.S Consulate is being expanded on a massive scale.

I worked with some PR's in TX. Some of the most hard-working, funny, kind people I've ever had the pleasure in being around. Like most things, there truly are a few people that divide us when we truly have so much more in common with each other. I know my experience is anecdotal, but I worked with about 40+ and they were all amazing people.
I would definitely go for those spots but you 100% have to know what you're getting into. There are other things you can do in PR that are much safer and more family friendly like the Rojas Salinas or Arecibo observatory to still get that taste of the island.

Greenland has been mismanaged by the Danes for centuries. The Americans have effectively dominated it since the 1890s. In WW2, we occupied it and had several naval and air bases there while the Danes were actively collaborating with real Nazis. Truman broached the subject of buying it but was repulsed. We established a massive airbase that is still active. We abandoned several naval bases that the Chinese tried to buy. Fortunately the Danes refused to sell to them. It would be a boon for the 57,000 Greenlanders to become Americans. In the meantime, the U.S Consulate is being expanded on a massive scale.
