I don't know if that is true. What is more likely is just pure cynicism.

The top echelon of society wants to live their lives as the anonymous rich (of which, they do have the right to), because wide publicity may lead to changes in taxes that will make them pay more. This might be true to the board as well. And they know the left keeps a grudge, and are opportunists. In Goodyear's case, he also knows the working person getting a flat/worn tire replaced isn't one with full agency to pick and choose. Supporting BLM looks more like a calculated choice that likely won't lead Kramer to get highlighted in the public eye as an example for raising taxes, and he is unlikely to suffer any riot/violence risks where he lives.

The only way for us to make him to change this calculus is if we are really steadfast in holding to a boycott, and impacting stock prices like Gillette. We need examples that makes this kind of cynical decisions hurt. The more data point that we can add to show the right/middle boycott is real, the better. We won't argue, we won't riot, we will just give you a couples of news cycles to reverse course. After that, we will just silently not buy your products - the conversation is over.
