You're not incorrect, but by that logic the AR-15 is just a bastard of pretty much every other military rifle up to that point. Sometimes innovation isn't about coming up with a new idea, but combining existing ones in a novel way.
The AR-15's gas piston rotating bolt means that there is almost nothing off the centerline that is moving during recoil (just the gas key). That's pretty innovative.

i guess it depends on your theatre of conflict. I got one loaded bird/slug/bird/slug with a 25rd drum but if it was time to rock and roll im running 5.56 green tip/hollow/greentip.

Addon: get some gloves n kneepads. As far as nightvision, i think theres some 5x binos on sale for 500 on opticsplanet. When Trumpbux hits, im gonna try to get a decent 3day pack, a sleeping bag n isomat, maybe some tacticool shirts, definitely some hiking socks,. Oh, and mass gainer is 1250 calories per serving, optimum nutrition is pretty decent with vitamins n fiber in them, and its $50 for 12 lbs, equaling 16 servings ie 16 days.
