Have you visited a grocery store lately and seen all the healthy adults wearing masks like a bunch of fucking sheep? Seen all the big corporations bow to the alter of social justice? Visited a public school in a less than upper class county?
I don’t think the American people are quite as sturdy as any of us would want.
Masks work. Do they work like people think as a shield? No, but they keep people who are sick from spreading disease. Are they perfect? Hell no, but if it keeps that 300lb sweat hog from hacking their lungs all over the fresh produce bc they are too selfish to stay at home when theyre sick then I’m ok with people wearing them.
Should they be mandated? That’s highly questionable.
It’s not the asymptomatic people that concern me. It’s the people that know they’re sick but still go out into public.
I feel this way about all sickness. I have a great immune system and rarely get sick, but when I do it really pisses me off bc I don’t go out or to work out of respect for others.
I hear you and I understand your concern for sure. There are definitely shitheads that will continue to go out, knowing they’re sick. But how many will do that? Is it really enough to justify taking everyone’s freedom away?
Extremely difficult to topple?

This is one area I disagree with here.

Doesn’t matter. No one should be forced to wear one. Asymptotic transmission is rare.
