Republicans preach about getting back to basics, but have divorced themselves from maintaining the core things government is supposed to run. They complain about all the non-essential services, but then don't do shit about operating and maintaining them within budget.
The reality is that local government is a stepping stone in which you stay in a role long enough to get name recognition, and then get out before your decisions come back to haunt you.
I never saw that in Emmett but the party as a whole, the politicians far up the chain, sure.
The same forces pushing the retarded left towards extremism is pushing Republicans more left. No doubt. But show me Emmett fucking up like that.
It was a motivated left in a purple city that had a lot of retard voters that were voting for identity politics that pushed out a pillar of Harris County. The guy that walked us through many disasters. The person we all shut up to listen to when he showed up on local news.
No one ever called Emmett a racist back then..
