I bring up the Ottomans and the atrocity of their splitting Europe in half by cutting the Christian west from east. I do so in order to illustrate there was nothing stable about that.
I have family that experienced the “stable” Ottoman rule as second class citizens and then put in prison for confessing Christ. And I also know families who has grand parents and extended family murdered in the Armenian genocide.
