My issue is with the lack of a USA based standard that is optimized for our unique freedom.

Ya. ISO is hung up on European Statism. Like defining a character encoding that is truly universal. They failed so hard at it, a small consortium of U.S. companies created a non-profit that completely stole a march on them. And it was implemented by two U.S. hackers in one night.

This is why we need US-based standards, ISO is primarily useful for global buyouts and takeovers.

Even Bell Labs has been bought out by Nokia. :I
