In its original form copyright was intended to protect small business and small creators from just getting straight up ripped off by heavy players.

Unfortunately The Mouse has captured this system and perverted it into a money printer.

Under the original interpretation of copyright, seeing as The Mouse has become a cultural icon and the original creator is long dead it's supposed to belong to all of us.
