The difference is semantics. Who else do you "physically discipline" in your life? Your wife? Your mother? Or just your kids who are stuck with you and can't leave?
I don't need to hit my kids to get them to do what I say. I'm an adult with a fully functioning brain. My kids are excellently behaved, and they know their father isn't a hypocrite who says one thing and does another.
